The shopping centre featured a dramatic four-storey atrium with escalator access between levels. Building regulations required fire separation at each floor level and effective smoke management for the atrium volume. Traditional construction would have closed in the open design that was central to the architectural concept.
FUEGUARD supplied EI 120 fire curtains at each escalator opening, providing rated separation on fire alarm activation. Smoke curtains were installed at the atrium perimeter to form a controlled smoke reservoir at high level, working with the mechanical smoke extraction system. All headboxes were concealed within architectural ceiling details.
The project achieved full compliance with building control requirements while preserving the open atrium design. Fire engineer sign-off was obtained based on FUEGUARD test certificates and installation verification. The centre opened on schedule with all fire curtain systems commissioned and operational.

The vast, open-plan departure lounges required strict smoke zoning to enable safe evacuation during a fire event. Fixed smoke screens were not an option due to the architectural requirement for unobstructed sightlines and natural light.
FUEGUARD installed active smoke curtains integrated seamlessly into the ceiling voids. These systems remain invisible during normal operation but deploy automatically to create smoke reservoirs and channel smoke to extraction points upon alarm activation.
The system successfully creates safe evacuation zones without compromising the terminal's open design. The installation met all international aviation fire safety standards and passed rigorous commissioning tests.

A central multi-storey atrium connected guest room floors, posing a significant risk of vertical fire spread. The interior design demanded minimal visual intrusion, ruling out permanent walls or fire doors.
We supplied concealed EI 60 fire curtains that deploy to compartmentalise the atrium perimeter. The bottom bars were powder-coated to match the ceiling finish, ensuring they are virtually unnoticeable when retracted.
The hotel achieved full fire safety compliance while maintaining its stunning architectural aesthetic. The solution provides robust improved life safety for guests without affecting the resort's operational flow.

Protecting progressive horizontal evacuation routes for bed-bound patients was critical. The hospital needed wide corridor openings for ease of movement that could instantly transform into rated fire barriers.
FUEGUARD installed EI 120 rated fire curtains in main corridors. These provide a 2-hour fire barrier, allowing adjacent compartments to remain safe while evacuation takes place. Smoke curtains were also deployed in potential smoke logging areas.
The installation ensures the highest standard of patient safety. The curtains allow for unobstructed daily hospital operations while providing assured protection during an emergency.

The design featured open-plan floors connected by feature staircases to encourage collaboration. However, this breached fire compartmentation lines, requiring a solution to prevent smoke travel between floors.
Smoke curtains were installed around the perimeter of the stair voids at each level. Triggered by smoke detection, they descend to form a smoke reservoir, keeping escape stairs clear.
The open, collaborative workspace design was realised without compromising safety code compliance. The solution was cost-effective compared to mechanical extraction alternatives.

A massive high-bay warehouse required compartmentalisation to limit potential fire spread and reduce insurance premiums. Conventional walls would have obstructed forklift operations and logistics flows.
FUEGUARD provided extra-wide EI 240 fire curtains (spanning up to 30m) to create large fire compartments. These remain retracted during operations, allowing full access, but deploy to seal off zones in a fire.
The client achieved a flexible logistics space with maximum fire safety ratings. The compartmentalisation strategy significantly reduced asset risk and satisfied insurer requirements.
