Why Certifications Matter
Fire protection products carry enormous responsibility. When a fire occurs, these systems must perform exactly as specified—lives depend on it.
Third-party certification provides independent verification that products meet published performance standards. This gives specifiers, building control authorities, and building owners confidence that fire curtains and smoke curtains will perform as expected.
FUEGUARD products are tested by accredited laboratories and carry the certifications required for specification in European and international projects.
European Fire Testing Standards
FUEGUARD products are tested and certified to the following European standards.
EN 1634-1
Fire resistance tests for door and shutter assemblies
The primary standard for testing fire curtain performance. Products are
exposed to the standard time-temperature curve and assessed for:
- Integrity (E) – Ability to prevent flame passage
- Insulation (I) – Ability to limit heat transfer
- Radiation (W) – Ability to limit radiated heat (where applicable)
EN 12101-1
Smoke and heat control systems — Smoke barriers
The specification standard for smoke curtains, defining requirements for:
- D Class – Deployment time
- DH Class – Temperature resistance
- S Class – Smoke leakage
- B Class – Barrier type classification
CE Marking
European Conformity Declaration
CE marking indicates that FUEGUARD products comply with relevant EU
Construction Products Regulation (CPR) requirements. This enables:
- Legal placement on the market throughout the EU/EEA
- Standardised Declaration of Performance (DoP)
- Factory Production Control (FPC) verification
- Consistent performance data for specification
